If you haven’t heard, the Bodacious brand is expanding to the Southtowne Apartments in Downtown Pensacola in the form of a bookstore and cafe! Enjoy your favorite Bodacious coffee beverage (made with our in-house roasted coffee beans) and shop your favorite authors! The shop will be located on Intendencia Street, directly off the newly constructed woonerf between Southtowne and the YMCA.
Christina Nettles (known as Crissy) is the new Bookstore Manager. We couldn’t be more excited for Crissy to join our team. She’s been with us for over a month and we’ve enjoyed getting to know her, and now we’d like you to learn a little about Crissy!
Where are you from? I was born in Tampa but grew up in and around New Orleans. I married a sweet talking man from Monroeville, Alabama, and lived there for 12 years before moving with him and our 3 children to Gulf Breeze in 2017.
How did you get started in the book business? We moved around a lot when I was growing up, and every town had a library or bookstore that became my familiar refuge. When I moved to Monroeville, Alabama I couldn’t believe Harper Lee’s hometown didn’t have a bookstore, so my husband and I renovated an old 1930s building and opened a bookstore and coffee shop. It was a dream come true meeting my favorite Southern authors and artists and creating a space to linger on the town’s beautiful historic square.
What’s your favorite part of working in a bookstore? I adore helping customers find the right book at the right time. It is a privilege to connect with someone on such a personal level, and it is an absolutely magical gift when customers return to tell you how much a book meant to them. Add the smell of coffee and pastries and I’m in my happy place.
What are you looking forward to most about Bodacious Bookstore and Café? Pensacola has an almost palpable energy right now, and I can’t wait to tap into that pulse and be part of a thriving downtown. Working with the Studer Family of Companies is a dream come true; I have immense gratitude for all the support and encouragement I receive on a daily basis, and I can’t wait to develop relationships in the community that help us create unique experiences, from author events to book clubs to children’s storytimes that feature techniques teachers and parents can use with unique learners. I would love to hear from our future customers! Email your favorite authors and brilliant suggestions to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
